It finally came together. Sixteen years ago I figured out what I wanted to do. As a child I liked to make things--from "clay pots" in the mud in our woodsy backyard to "perfume" from rose petals. Then there were the floor plans I'd sketch, often using the letters of the alphabet for the shape of the house. I have always liked arts and crafts, architecture, colors, and texture. It was worth the wait and the journey was a good one...and it continues!

"A Quiet Morning"
I believe it was a Sunday morning, quite early, when my husband and I ventured out to ride a double-decker bus in Hong Kong. We sat in the front seat of the upper deck with a clear view of what was ahead of us. We hadn't made a plan, so we didn't know where the bus was going (except away from the center of Kowloon where our hotel was!). We rode it "out" and then got off and then spent the morning on a meandering walk heading "back" to where we were pretty sure our hotel was. We have often done this type of adventure in foreign cities, where we drive "somewhere" or take a bus or subway "somewhere" and discover a lot about how people really live in these various places. These adventures often become some of our best memories. The photo I painted from was taken in 1979.
Painting in Progress
I'm going to post paintings once in awhile in different stages as I work on them. The one below is of a street scene in the city where I live. It is finished!

A dinner fit for a queen...like Marie Antoinette! Without the food. This table setting is in the same room at the Palace of Versailles that the screen below is in. In this painting I tried loosening up my brush strokes more than I did in the painting below. Periodically, I have to remind myself to do this because I like the outcome better. The painting below doesn't seem quite right to me, but in looking at a reference photo I noticed a chandelier hanging in the foreground...might add it.

Catacombs Crowd...We waited in line for two hours to get into the catacombs. Interestingly, once my younger daughter and I got down into the catacombs, the crowds disappeared and we found ourselves alone in darkened halls beneath the streets of Paris. Where did everybody go?
